“We have advancement programs within Lane County. For individuals who come in with a license or a certification already and they’re trying to climb the ladder. What it’s been harder for us to do is the educational curriculum portion of career development to get someone the foundational skills they need for an entry-level position in a technical or specialized role.
So that, I think, is the importance of the partnership with United We Heal is that education piece, the curriculum, the oversight and all the regulatory, items to make sure that the apprenticeship is, is accredited in the appropriate way that, that we know that the credential will be recognized once that individual graduates.”
Eve Gray – Director of Health and Human Services
Lane County
“Beyond being a training agent for apprentices’ opportunities. We have representation right there on the committee. The JTC committee and on the trust as a trustee, which allows us to help be aware and contribute and make decisions regarding the use of the funding for the trust, to help get this work done and to help make sure that employers and training agents are at the table, so to speak, and aware of those decisions, we can have that good representation.“
